Final H2H for 2020

It really seems like this year's H2H went fast.  My goal was to find old store displays, shop hop quilts, and make some really quick quilts to use of yardage.  And of course continue trying to use up my flannel.  I did manage to get rid of some large pieces of fabric and that feels really good.  My goal this year was 25 and I have 28.  Finishing up the old displays and making fast quilts helped this year.

So my numbers are 7 for Little Lambs and 21 for Quilts of Compassion

This first quilt is a stack and whack with pillow case.  The rest of these quilts are just a large novelty print with borders added.

H2H 2020

I can't believe it's time for H2H again.  My goal is 25 quilts again this year.  I'm going through quilt tops and kits that need finishing to donate this year.  Here is my first group.

This was a top someone gave me.  It only needed to be quilted but I've had it for at least 5 years.  Glad its done!

This is a flannel yellow brick road pattern that has been cut out for a couple years.

Flannel again.  The pattern is Walk About.

This one was fun.  It is 2 1/2" squares and background fabric.  It's called Twirling at the Disco.  Its a free pattern at http://www.sameliasmum.com/2020/02/twirling-at-disco-quilt-free-pattern.html

Cute fabric I just couldn't cut up.  I think it makes a cute baby quilt.

The mountain laurel is blooming.  This is the first time in the three years we have lived it.  It's beautiful.

2019 H2H Final Count

Well it's finally here, the final count.  I really focused on using up flannel and made a good job of reducing my stash this year.  I went from 4 large containers to 1 1/2 containers of scraps.  I'm really happy with getting it out of here. So here is my final count -- 23 total.

Jack's Baskets -- 14

Carolina Hurricane Project -- 1 (queen)

The above quilt was my leader/ender while making other quilts.  It is not flannel but still used up a large piece of fabric from the stash (the cream one).  This quilt is called Sunny Lanes from the Nickel Quilts book.  It is a really easy leader/ender quilt to make.  I didn't use the method in the book for the 4-patches choosing instead to use my stash of 2 1/2" squares.  I did use the books method for the 1/2 square triangles.

I love this challenge every year.  It really forces me to use up my stash which is taking over my space.  Now that the challenge is over I can focus on some of my other projects.  First up is adding binding on a couple of customer quilts and then making a store display for Yards of Fabric in Mason, MI. Then maybe I can focus on some of my UFO's.

Finish it up Friday

More H2H quilts done.  I have one more on the quilting frame to finish this weekend and maybe one more to finish piecing if I get time.  Final count will be on Sunday so I better get it done.

These are for Jack's Basket.  Making 36" quilts is so much fun I may have got carried away!  I did use up all the little bits of baby flannel I had -- YEA!!!!!

These are lap quilts for Quilty Hugs.  I used the Yellow Brick Road pattern for these and just added borders to make them bigger.  These are made from flannel fat quarters I've had since the 90's.  Remember Thimbleberries?  That is what the majority of them were.  So glad to finally use it up.

Look at my Rhododendron in the background.  It is a beautiful red and it is huge.  Love my woods!

And one final picture of my helper -- well sort of.  It was cold in my sewing room so she climbed in to this quilt.  I hated to move her so I could do the binding.

Will I ever be done?

I'm still working away at my flannel stash.  I feel like I will never use it up!  Anyway here is where I'm at since last month.

 This is the pile of unfinished tops.  A couple ready to quilt and a few to finish piecing.

This is the pile of quilts that need binding so today is going to be devoted to bindings. I think there are six in the pile but luckily for me four are just 36x36.  The quilt on my design wall is another one I need to finish.  I keep adding sections as I finish other projects.  Not sure what size it will finish up but I'm hoping it's at least a twin.

I think when I finish up these quilts I'm going to look through my stack of unquilted quilt tops. I'll see if there are any I'm just not in love with anymore.  If I find any I may quilt them to donate.

And look what's back.  We love watching the hummingbirds.  This picture is from last year but it's better than the one I took this year.

2019 H2H Charity Quilts Challenge

It time again for Confessions of a Fabric Addict to do the Hands to Help Comfort Quilts Challenge.  Every year more and more people sign up for it and this year there are over 200 participants.  This is my third year.

This is our first check-in for this year and I've been busy!  My goal this year is to really reduce my flannel scraps.  I made an effort last year but didn't even make a dent in it.  This year I'm determined!  So far I've reduced the scraps from four large containers down to two and I'm not done yet.  I've made quite a few baby quilts for Jack's Baskets and I'm now working on lap sizes.

Here are eight baby quilts I have done so far.  My husband does the quilting on the longarm and has a few more to do in between the customer quilts.  It was a windy day but I think the pictures came out okay.

This quilt was a kit I found in my stash.  Not sure if this was the pattern or not since there was no directions in the bag just the cut strips.  I think it was from the 1990's -- glad to get rid of this one!

This feather star quilt I made for my mother-in-law in the 90's.  I'm really not in love with it so decided to donate to someone who will love it.

These were blocks left over from a project one of my customers made.  She didn't want the leftovers so after looking at them for a couple years I've finally made something with them.  YEAH!!!!!

The fabric in the middle has been in my stash for a long time.  It's really pretty and I just couldn't cut it up.  This was the best I could come up with.  The picture doesn't show the true colors which are very dark and rich looking.

And just because it is so beautiful here is a picture of my azalea bushes blooming.  Spring is here in the north Georgia mountains.
